City On Our Knees 2032
Your word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path.
Psalm 119:105
Last year I had the honour of attending the high school graduation of my eldest daughter. It got me thinking about how important educational establishments are in the formation of our young people. As parents we trust these institutions to be positive influences in our children's lives as they learn and develop into adults. Young minds are pliable and easily influenced. Many times I have had conversations with my kids as they come back home with ideas and values that were not taught at home.
As the Psalmist says, the Word of God is the light that guides my feet on the path of life. Education is a wonderful thing, but it cannot hold a candle to the light of God's Word. I like how Paul put it in his instruction to the young Timothy; "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
The word disciple literally means to be a learner. Our children and grandchildren are being discipled. My question is who is discipling them in the way they are to go?
Prayer Points
Pray for the educational establishments in our city, that they will have the freedom to teach and educate without fear of politically motivated ideologies.
Pray for religious freedom, that the Word and Christian values will be taught without fear of persecution.
Lift up our Pastors, Youth Leaders, and Sunday School Teachers across our city to live faithful lives, model Christlikeness, and have a passion for communicating the truth to those they disciple.
Ask the Lord to raise up Young Men and women with a calling to enter the educational establishments to be bold witnesses for Christ and influence the emerging generations.
Pray for those you are connected to personally that are students and teachers that God would give them a life-long love and hunger for the Word.
