2022 Month of Prayer - Insistent

January 12th

O LORD, hear my prayer. Pay attention to my plea for mercy.

Psalm 86:6

Consistent, Persistent, Insistence will break every Resistance

Insistence is a character trait of God. It comes from the unchangeable nature of His holiness. He insists that we be holy because He is holy; that only the righteous will stand before Him. He insists on justice and mercy. So insistent is He on these things that He sent His only Son to make a way for us to be holy and blameless in His sight through the faithfulness of Jesus.

When it comes to breaking resistance in prayer and spiritual warfare, you need to be insistent on the Word of God. Another way to phrase insistence is to take your stand on the Word like a soldier at a checkpoint or a guard at a city gate. Their job is to only let pass those that have a right to enter and turn away those that don't. The soldier is insistent in following through on orders.

The nature of a covenant means we can insist on the terms of the covenant be fulfilled. We are in a covenant relationship with God and it would be unthinkable that He would break the terms of the covenant. It is by design that God made covenant promised so that we, the weaker vessels, could call on His name in times of trouble.

A covenant works both ways, there are requirements of us. Our enemy is quick to exploit the weaknesses of our obedience to the Lord. This is how Satan (which means the Accuser) is able to legally set up resistance against us. It is pointless insisting on our deliverance when we are unrepentant.

Before we stand upon the Word of God in prayer, we must first approach the throne of grace, examine ourselves and confess our faults. 1 John 1:9 says; "If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just and will forgive our sins, cleansing us from all unrighteousness." When we are forgiven, we are covered with the blood of Jesus and we stand before God, clothed in the uniform of Christ's righteousness, not our own. Through confession and repentance, we have removed the legal right of our accuser. Now we can stand upon the Word of God and insist the enemy be removed.

As a covenant child of God, do you know the promises you can insist upon?
